Yesterday, Zak finished Nursery class. They had a picnic two days before to sort of celebrate their “accomplishment”.
When I went to pick him up, I noticed some parents lingering around, chatting with the teachers, emotional – some were even openly crying. I was a bit uncomfortable so I kept my distance while waiting for a chance to speak with the teachers and thank them for their patience with Zak.
We let him take a digital camera to school so he could take photos of the last day of his class. His shots were absolutely fantastic. He even managed to gather all the girls to pose for him! In the end, he complained that he missed his snacks because he was just going around taking pictures while everybody was eating.
As soon as he came out of the main entrance to his nursery, I took pictures of him, and suddenly I became emotional that my four-year-old boy has finally finished nursery class! He’s finished one whole year, learned to read, write and count, and emerged as a confident child who’s happy to speak in front of the whole class.
